Billions of dollars are spent every year on bogus auto insurance claims. Ultimately, these bogus claims do affect your insurance premiums causing you to have to spend more on your auto insurance. There are groups of people who are dedicated to causing these accidents with the intent to cash in on the accident. So how can you prevent auto insurance and feel safer on the road? This video will discuss just that!
There are many ways that fraudulent claims can occur. A common incident would be “a shortstop” which is essentially the vehicle in front of you stops unexpectedly causing you to rear-end them.
To combat falling victim to these types of claims here are a few tips!
-
Keep your eyes on the road. Always pay attention to the road and especially any vehicle in front of you.
-
Keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. You never know when that vehicle may stop short on purpose to cause an accident.
-
Always keep your vehicle insured. If you end up falling victim to a fraudulent claim you could be responsible to pay out of your own pocket.
If you do feel like you have been involved in an accident and there is something unusual about it, make sure that you follow all the right procedures when the accident happens. Please include all names and contact information with the driver’s license numbers and of the individuals involved. Take plenty of photos of the incident and where the accident occurred.
This information will help law enforcement speed up their investigation.
